St. Louis Tornado Damage

Dear Friends, Partners & Commmunity Members,

In the wake of the deadly EF3 tornado that struck St. Louis on Friday, May 16th,  the Advancing American Business & Contractors Association (AABCA) is urgently calling on all who are able to assist in the clean-up and rebuilding efforts. No effort is too small.

The tornado touched down in Clayton County at approximately 2:41 p.m. CDT and moved northeast through the city, affecting neighborhoods including the Central West End, Fountain Park, Penrose, O'Fallon, and Greater Ville.  Five people lost their lives nd more than 5,000 properties, including homes, small businesses and churches, were damaged. The estimated damage is $1.6 billion, and it may take several months or years for some people to recover and rebuild.

St. Louis Mayor Cara Spencer has appointed AABCA to coalition leading the city’s recovery and rebuilding efforts. We are also working with U.S. Rep. Wesley Bell, of the 1st Congressional District, on outreach efforts. Private companies such as Scale AI, with an office in St Louis have made generous contributions to our efforts.

Many families in our city have experienced significant losses, and the need for support is substantial. We are seeking assistance for the items listed below:

Heavy Equipment & Hauling Support: Woodchippers, trailers, dump trucks, and other equipment to assist with debris removal.

Construction Materials: Plywood, 2x4s, tarps, nails, and similar items for temporary stabilization and rebuilding.

Essential Supplies: Trash bags, flashlights, batteries, bottled water, hygiene products, and non-perishable foods.

Hands-On Labor: Skilled tradespeople and labor teams who can volunteer their time and expertise on-site.

If you or your organization can contribute in any way, please reach out to us as soon as possible. Every contribution, big or small, will make a difference in helping these families rebuild their  lives. Thank you for standing with and supporting St. Louis during this difficult time.

The entire city, and those who lost loved ones remain in our thoughts and prayers.

We will rebuild!
