ABOUT AABCA

Founded in 2019, the Advancing American Business & Contractors Association (AABCA), Inc. is dedicated to empowering small business enterprises by facilitating their access to opportunities in both public and private sector projects. Our mission is to champion the growth and sustainability of these businesses, recognizing their vital contribution to the nation's economic fabric.

In 2025, AABCA was awarded 501(c)(3) status, a milestone that strengthens its ability to pursue its mission by expanding access to funding, deepening community partnerships, and enhancing its capacity to support small businesses, contractors and entrepreneurs throughout Missouri and acorss the nation.

Small businesses are the cornerstone of the American economy. As of 2024, there are approximately 34.8 million small businesses in the United States, accounting for 99.9% of all U.S. businesses. These enterprises employ nearly 59 million people, representing 45.9% of the private-sector workforce.

Despite their significant impact, small businesses often encounter systemic challenges that hinder their growth and participation in larger markets.

Common barriers include:

  • Limited Access to Capital: Many small businesses struggle to secure the necessary funding to expand operations or invest in new opportunities .

  • Navigating Complex Regulations: The regulatory landscape can be daunting, with small firms spending 45% more per employee than larger firms to comply with federal regulations .

  • Supply Chain Disruptions: External factors, such as tariffs and global events, can disproportionately affect small businesses, leading to increased costs and operational challenges .

  • Workforce Recruitment and Retention: Attracting and retaining qualified employees remains a significant hurdle, impacting the ability of small businesses to scale effectively.

AABCA addresses these challenges by:

  • Advocating for Fair Access: Working to ensure small businesses have equitable opportunities to compete for contracts and projects.

  • Providing Resources and Training: Offering educational programs and tools to help small business owners navigate the complexities of the industry.

  • Fostering Strategic Partnerships: Connecting small businesses with key stakeholders in both the public and private sectors to facilitate growth and collaboration.

Through these efforts, AABCA aims to create a more inclusive and supportive environment where small businesses can thrive, contribute to economic development, and drive innovation across industries.

WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO

The Advancing American Business & Contractors Association (AABCA) has launched a Contracting Accountability Watchlist to track participation levels of small businesses, contractors, service providers, and emerging entrepreneurs on major development projects.

This initiative was created in response to ongoing concerns about limited access and participation in public and publicly supported projects. AABCA is particularly focused on ensuring that qualified businesses—regardless of size or background—are given a fair opportunity to compete, contribute, and grow.

Despite significant public incentives, many projects fail to meet even minimal participation benchmarks. “Good faith efforts” are no longer enough.  Transparency, accountability, and measurable results are required.

AABCA remains committed to monitoring progress, engaging stakeholders, and advocating for fair and competitive opportunities on every project. Regular updates will be provided, and our efforts will continue until clear and lasting improvements are achieved.

Join the fight for economic inclusion, jobs and justice!
